Brand New Yay! Sizzle Reel
Los Angeles based Comedian Aidan Park started out in comedy by grinding it out touring colleges, small dive bars and c-level comedy clubs. Today, he is an internationally headlining comedian. Originally from South Korea, his act can be described as fun and high octane. He talks about his unique life experiences as a gay, once undocumented Korean immigrant. His unique comedy additionally includes clever bits about: Becoming a young widower and being raised by his conservative grandmother. A lovely woman who didn’t speak English but somehow knew her way to every casino in the state of California. Audiences across the country love his combination of unapologetic and unflinching openness about himself, his point of view, epic storytelling with sharp punchlines and an in your face but warm approach attitude.

How Aidan Learned English
Aidan’s Immigration Story
In The Art of Being YAY! I tell juicy anecdotes from my life that out drama a Lifetime Channel movie. Through these stories I apply empowering thought tools and principles for emotional wellness.
I was born in South Korea to a single mother and a father with a secret, second family. My life started out resembling a sordid soap opera. It didn’t get any less dramatic. When I was nine my mother and I fled to the United States. I was thrust into a foreign culture with no real support. My mother was blackmailed into staying with an abusive boyfriend and paying his way through dental school.
Essentially on my own in a new country, I taught myself English. I also faced the prejudices of people who did not agree with my lifestyle as a gay man. Not being able to find a job due to my status as an illegal immigrant was also a barrier. So, I became a craigslist hooker. When that burgeoning career was cut short due to an HIV diagnosis, I threw myself into the world of self-help and cognitive behavior.
I used the coping skills gleaned from my studies to build up several successful careers, strong friendships, and even fell in love. But when my husband of five years died suddenly of cancer, I had to forge new coping techniques in order to deal with my grief. Not satisfied with just being okay, I decided to actively pursue joy. In my book I share alternately hilarious and heartbreaking stories. I also shares tools and principles that will help you pursue your own authentic joy, no matter what adversity you face.
Tales of love, death, and betrayal — oh my! Sit back and get ready to undoubtedly discover The Art of Being YAY!

The Mission of the YAY Foundation is to A non profit organization encouraging well being, self expression, and the strengthening of community, through humor and storytelling.
Aidan Park (The founder and executive director) leads the participants through a process in which they will write a comedy act sourced from their personal experiences. Through the process, the students will see that they, in fact, are not alone in their pain. Their painful experiences are not ones to be hidden away in shame, but rather brought to light and shared with others who may be going through the same experience. The students will have an opportunity to see the incredible power of vulnerability and storytelling and feel valued for their courage. Performing on stage and sharing personal experiences can encourage confidence, a sense of agency and belonging in their community. The sharing of personal experiences can be a profoundly healing experience for the performers and audience members alike.
The YAY Foundation has served Montana, Colorado, California, Washington and is slated to work with New Zealand, South Africa and Canada in 2023
