Welcome to The Art of Being Yay Experience; based on Aidan’s bestselling book The Art of Being Yay: The OMG NSFW Memoir and Guide to Authentic Joy. Foreword by Margaret Cho.

Aidan takes his stand-up comedy act to the next level. Think funny with a twist of empowerment!
The show invites the audience into the juicy details of his personal life. It begins with his childhood in Korea, his HIV diagnosis at age 19 and ends with the loss of his husband Michael to cancer in 2018. Through his personal anecdotes he carefully applies empowering thought tools and principles for emotional wellness. Aidan shares specific techniques and guiding principles that promote a greater sense of personal self-efficacy and self-awareness, laughter included.

Aidan has applied the coping skills gleaned from his over 15 years of empowerment studies to build a successful career, make strong friendships, and a loving relationship with his husband of five years. However, when Michael died suddenly of cancer, Aidan had to forge new coping techniques in order to deal with his grief.  Not satisfied with just being okay, he decided to actively pursue joy. Aidan’s passion is to help others pursue their own authentic joy, no matter what adversity they face.

Having lost my partner in 2012, I faced the same “being widowed challenge” as Aidan. Until I attended Aidan’s presentation, I assumed “working through my grief” preceded any ability to be truly happy again. I immersed myself in the study of grief, ultimately obtaining a Masters level 1 year certificate in applied Thanatology. But while I gained a lot of knowledge about grief it did not make me a happier person. Aidan’s workshop has given me the gift of tools to achieve a new level of self-confidence with respect to decision making and happiness. Attending Aidan’s workshop has changed my life and I will forever be grateful.
